Even after all these years since the “big band” of Italian food in the late 1990s, it’s amazing to see how much great Italian cuisine you can find across America today. Where Italian food in America used to be a corrupted and sometimes unrecognizable riff on the original, today authenticity rules.
When I moved to Texas eight years ago to marry my wife Tracie P and start our family, there really weren’t more than a handful of great Italian dining destinations between Austin, Houston, and San Antonio. Today, they abound!
Coppa Osteria is just one of Houston’s many buzzing Italian places, packed every night with guests who are eating homemade pastas, munching on classic Neapolitan pizza, and drinking great native grape varieties from Italy, like Cantele Primitivo — currently by the glass and by the bottle in Houston, Texas.
