“One of the most important parts of [its] Urban Community initiative,” writes the owner of the popular Urban Grape wine shop in Boston, “is the Cheers to Community wines that we feature every month. These wines represent a simple way for you to support a non-profit organization in and around the South End by doing what we all do best – drinking! Each month, we’ll pick two wines that to promote all month. At the end of the month, 10% of the sales of these wines will go back to our designated partner – the more you drink, the more we donate!”
We were proud to learn that Cantele’s Salice Salentino was recently featured in this campaign, with proceeds going to Rosie’s Place, “the first woman’s shelter in the country, and a integral part of our Boston community.”
Here’s what Urban Grape had to say about the wine…
Cantele Salice Salentino Riserva. Apulia, Italy (2012)
Made from 100% Negroamaro, this medium-bodied wine scores big amongst our staff and clients. This riserva spends just enough time in barrique to develop a firm tannin that’s cushioned by plush red and black fruit, making room for tobacco, herbs, and spice to open up as the wine evolves. With a soft, balanced acidity and a lovely almond-like tannic texture, this wine pleases everyone from your traditional Napa drinker as well those who root themselves firmly in the old world. Easy to pair with roasted meats, ripe cheeses, and barbecue.
Thank you, Urban Grape! We couldn’t be more thrilled to be part of your community building.
Thanks, also, for featuring our Rosato from Negroamaro in your fantastic rosé offering for summer (above).
