Negroamaro and steak? Hell yeah!

A friend of winemaker Gianni’s posted this photo on his Facebook this week as he was getting ready to watch Italy play in the European Cup (soccer).

The Teresa Manara is not currently available in the U.S. but it will be soon. It’s one of Gianni’s boldest wines and one of his best, made from 100 percent Negroamaro grapes.

Negroamaro has a wonderful smokiness and meatiness — what wine people call “umami” savory flavors — that makes it go great with broiled beef.

As July 4 weekend approaches and all the grilling that comes with it, check out a bottle of the Salice Salentino this year with your t-bone!
