The team at the Cantele Winery had an extra special treat this year for Cantine Aperte (Open Cellars), the annual event when wineries across Italy open their doors to visitors from around the world. The event took place last weekend (Memorial Day weekend, for our American friends).
This year, winemaker and grape grower Gianni Cantele hosted a group from Sonoma State University from the school’s Business and Economics MBA program.
What a great surprise to have guests from California wine country at the winery in Puglia!
Cantele was a pioneer and a leader in planting and vinifying Chardonnay in Puglia in the 1990s. And so it was fantastic to get to meet and taste with wine lovers from Sonoma, where the United States produces what is arguably its greatest expression of Chardonnay and other white grapes.
Thank you, Sonoma State, for making it a super memorable Cantine Aperte! We hope to see you again next year! Go Seawolves!
