Here’s what the folks at the Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant in San Francisco had to say about the Cantele Negroamaro:
“We dig this wine for its pretty and surprisingly floral nose, its very present dark red plum fruit flavors and the fact that it does not have a rustic edge to it that so many wines, especially in this price range, have from Puglia. It most definitely feels like a wine from southern Italy but it has nice depth and one might even say polish about it. It is medium bodied with medium intensity, fairly soft tannins, nice balancing acidity and a touch of earthy minerality. It was gobbled up by our guests when we featured it on the wine bar recently. It’s perfectly fine on its own and would also pair well with typical Italian fare like spaghetti and meat balls or pizza.”
