What a thrill for us to discover that one of our favorite American wine writers, educators, and consultants, Thor Iverson, had posted the above photo of the Salice Salentino on his Facebook the other day while dining at Amis in the City of Brotherly Love!
A good friend of our blogmaster, Jeremy, and one of the most respected and beloved wine professionals working in the U.S. today, Thor is also known for his extreme ability in orchestrating elaborate and never-less-than brilliant paronomasia.
Thor’s been living in the beautiful eastern U.S. city of Philadelphia for the last few years. We envy him that: Philadelphia is home to the extraordinary Vetri restaurant group, which counts Amis — its “Roman trattoria” concept — as one of its components. (Remember when Paolo and Jeremy dined at the group’s flagship, Vetri, back in October of 2013?)
Thor is such a thoughtful and sensitive taster and his wine knowledge and professionalism are above reproach.
It was a real thrill for us to learn that he’d tasted the wine, at Amis no less, where one of our favorite sommeliers in the country, Stephen Wildy, authors the wine list.
Thank you, Thor! You are a wine lover and a gentleman…
